    CREATIVE BOOST with artist Kinska

Kinska made 'My Opera House' @NOWGallery, when I was the curator there. Where ceramics took the form of playful cubes, 100 tears hung from clouds, and Kinska created a house inhabited by ceramic characters and playful objects. It was a joyous installation about healing, where everyone was encouraged to draw in her notebooks. Kinska’s art is organic and instinctive. It is the result of introspection and personal insights into emotions and feelings.

In this talk we will see how she processes her experiences using drawing, and finds a way to demonstrate feelings through characters, like the black hole she created for this exhibition. We discuss how playing and creativity go together and how inspiration plays a part.

At this time, like many people, Kinska is reevaluating her practice and I talked to her at a thoughtful moment, when she is enjoying exploring different media with tapes, fabrics and paper and the immediacy of mark making. We discussed how creativity can be a useful process? I love Kinska’s approach to art, objects, creating and this is a good discussion.
